New Student Scholarship Program
Dr. Ibrahim Uwaydah Scholarship

(Houston, Texas, USA, April 20, 2010) - The Palestinian American Bridge (PAB) organization is proud to announce the establishment of Ibrahim Uwaydah Scholarship, a new annual academic scholarship in honor of the late Dr. Ibrahim Uwaydah for students of Palestinian origin who study in the Houston area in higher education institutions, yet another major milestone in the organization’s endeavors.
 
In February 2010, PAB held its Annual Banquet Event and hosted Mr. Andrew Whitley, Head of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency). During this event, PAB was able to raise
$47,600 to benefit the new scholarship program.
 
PAB formed a special committee to lead the efforts to finalize the criteria and oversee the success of the new scholarship program. Our sincere thanks go to the scholarship committee members:

The goal of the new scholarship is to recognize outstanding students of Palestinian origin who live in the Houston Metropolitan area and are attending or plan to attend a university or college in the Houston Metropolitan area, reward them for their achievements and help them meet their basic academic expenses.
 
Ibrahim Uwaydah’s Scholarship is a merit and need based scholarship. The amount of money that will be awarded is based on the financial need of the student. PAB encourages every student to apply for other financial aids offered by the school or any government’s agencies.

Requirements:
  1. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in high school,
    and must maintain a 3.0/4.0 Grade GPA in the university or college to keep the
    scholarship award. Priority will be given to the highest GPA students. High SAT score is
    very desirable.
  2. Applicant should be willing to be an active member of the community and to be
    supportive to PAB and its goals as listed in the bylaws of the organization.
  3. Applicant who meets the eligibility requirements must submit a completed application
    annually throughout the scholarship duration and provide all required supporting
    documents as listed in the application.
  4. Applicant must meet the GPA requirements.
  5. Applicant must be accepted or enrolled as full time student in an accredited four-year
    university or two-year college in the Houston Metropolitan area.
  6. Applicant must be a resident of the Houston Metropolitan area.

Applications received prior to the deadline date (Deadline Extended to July 1, 2010) will be fully considered.
